Counseling and Therapy for Young Professionals

Counseling and Therapy

What is Counseling/therapy?

Counseling is a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families, and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education and career goals. Quoted from American Counseling Association Counseling and therapy can help you see things from a different perspective and enable positive growth and change. Your therapist will be guiding you through your emotional experience.

What it is not?

Counseling is not telling people what to do or how to do it. It is helping people work through their emotions, figure out what they are going to do about their “problem”, and finding for themselves the best approach to take. It is not “giving advice” or being judgmental, nor is it trying to sort out the client’s problems. It is more so an exploration of the client’s emotions or the experiences that have created these emotions.

What issues does counseling focus on?

Adjustment issues, anxiety, depression, communication, grief, relationship problems and stress management.

How does therapy help?

Through counseling and therapy, you will learn to change self-destructive patterns, improve your relationships, and work through painful feelings. If you are experiencing depression and anxiety, therapy will provide you with the proper coping mechanisms and ways to overcome feelings of nervousness, sadness, and other symptoms related to your diagnosis. It also helps you change negative thought patterns, promotes healthy behaviors like self-awareness and self-empowerment, guiding you towards and healthier, happier, and more fulfilled life.
