[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Do you want to get in touch with your authenticity? Are you looking to cultivate a deeper connection with yourself and your creativity? You might be doing the inner work on your own, and are now ready to share with a mental wellness support group. It can be vulnerable, yet incredibly rewarding at the same time. We see the value in making mental wellness accessible in a variety of ways, mental health support groups being one of them.
Integrative Counsel offers mental wellness support groups in St Petersburg, FL. In our mental wellness groups, our practitioners can support you through life changes, whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, or grief. Showing up for yourself and diving beneath the surface can feel daunting, but you will not be alone! Your guide will be one of our licensed practitioners, well-versed in battling the limitations we come up against in this journey. They will give you the necessary tools to become the creator of your own life.
In our art groups, you will be able to connect with yourself through the creative process. The creative process sends your brain into a meditative state, where it’s easier to access the “wise mind” and heal from trauma.
When you integrate all the parts of your brain, you move out of your head and into a powerful state of flow, where you can harness the full power of your brain and create the connection, adventure, and meaning you crave.
When you step outside your own bubble and join a group of like-minded individuals, you give yourself what you need–human connection. It may feel vulnerable at first, but there is much to gain from stepping outside of your comfort zone and doing what’s best for your mental health, even if it is uncomfortable at first.
Getting involved in a creative project of any kind can be so rewarding, and this is especially true with arts-based mental wellness support groups. Creating makes you feel accomplished and productive, which increases serotonin in your brain. Whenever you are making art, it increases blood flow towards the prefrontal cortex of the brain. This area of the brain is responsible for regulating our thoughts, feelings, and also regulates our motivational capacity. Once you have a visual representation of what you have created, the blood flows to the reward center, which makes you feel closer to your life purpose.
Our groups in St Petersburg, FL, are all about helping you use your creativity as a tool to do the necessary inner work. Our newest support group focuses on Julia Cameron’s “The Artist’s Way”, and will help you with artistic creative recovery and help you gain self-confidence in your creative abilities.
Join Becky Flowers, RCSWI, MFA for a 12-week dive into the Artist’s Way program. This group is for everyone who wants more creativity in their life. Becky will be your guide through the methods outlined in the book (included in your tuition), leading you to a place of safety, understanding, & creativity. This group is split into three 4-week trimesters and costs $200 per trimester. This group will meet on Saturdays beginning in October.
The combination of art-making and reflection is a powerful tool to have when you are on your mental wellness journey. Learning how to tap into your creative side is vital when building the life you want and becoming your highest, most authentic self.
