Welcome to the heartbeat of Integrative Counsel, our blog where tranquility meets transformation. This is your sanctuary for insights and wisdom on nurturing a harmonious connection between mind, body, and spirit.
Therapy can help you heal your burnout, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy. Striking the right balance between the things you need to do and the things you want to do requires subtlety and practice. Therapy is work. You wouldn’t think that the solution to burnout is more effort, but in fact, being more conscious, putting in more effort, and practicing the skill of mindfulness might be the only lasting solution to burnout we have. To learn how to cope with burnout, you’ll need to find the right teacher.
“Burnout is a way of telling you that your form of activism was perhaps not very full circle.” – Gloria Steinem
Michael Anthony is a St. Petersburg counselor who not only helps his clients deal with whatever burnout they’re experiencing, but also how to avoid that burnout in the future. But you don’t have to take my word for it, let’s hear it from him:
“Reaching a state of burnout is common especially with the demands of life upon us each day. In order to prevent and heal burnout, the name of the game is balance! Burnout can be a sign of us operating on too much fire energy. Fire is a great element for goals and drive, but when we do not balance that with stability, adaptability or detachment, we can burn out. The best way to heal from this is to tap into the things that help you feel grounded in the moment. Things that help you feel like you can help us fuel the fire to burn hotter and longer. Looking into adaptability and detachment can also help since we can learn to go with the flow, or recognize the things that are both within and outside of our control. Balance is important when approaching life in any regard and being mindful of your boundaries and limits can help get us ahead of burnout.” – Michael Anthony, LCSW
Michael Anthony is a St. Petersburg therapist who’s covered by Optum, but no matter who your insurance provider is, Integrative Counsel is committed to helping you find quality care. We can connect you with a therapist that’s right for you and covered by your insurance.
We are living in an epidemic of burnout. If we had a cough, we could take a cough drop. If we had an infection, we could get antibiotics. Even if you catch a virus like the flu, you can take fever reducers and cold medicine to help with the discomfort. But when we’re plagued with burnout, it’s not so simple.
There is medicine out there for burnout, but it can’t be found on the shelf and there isn’t a pharmacist on the planet who can bottle it for you. It’s the most uncomfortable kind of medicine there is: the metaphorical kind.
At Integrative Counsel, we understand that burnout affects everyone differently. That’s why our therapists offer unique, science-backed approaches to help you rediscover balance and vitality.
