Mental Health Awareness Month 2025: Tampa Bay Events, Resources & How to Get Involved
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and that means there’s plenty of therapeutic activities all across St. Petersburg, FL. That’s because Mental Health Awareness is more than just a topic for instagram graphics, it’s a heartfelt call to action. This is a time when the community comes together to shine a compassionate light on mental health, and show that we love and care for our brain.
That’s why this May 18th, Integrative Counsel is doing our part to Keep St. Pete Weird & Well! We’ll be holding a FREE community festival all about how to find and sustain the best version of your Self. But what does that mean?
Somatic Therapy In St. Petersburg.
The mind-body connection is like the relationship between the roots and branches of a tree—one cannot thrive without the other. Just as a tree draws strength and nourishment from deep underground to support its canopy above, our mental well-being is deeply intertwined with our physical health. When the roots—our thoughts, emotions, and inner world—are healthy and nurtured, the branches—our energy, posture, and outward expression—grow stronger and more vibrant. But when we neglect what lies beneath the surface, even the sturdiest trunk can wither. Tending to both mind and body is not a luxury; it’s the natural rhythm of wellness, grounding us and allowing us to reach for the light.
Our event will have a number of vendors and practitioners to help you nourish the roots and branches of your tree, so let’s take a look at them:
Chiropractic Therapy From Kung Fu Chiro.Lance Robbins is an expert when it comes to chiropractics, and a master when it comes to healing his community. Across all ages, we’ve seen him transform joint and muscle pain into blissful oblivion, so when we began planning this event, we knew we had to invite Kung Fu Chiro. Dr. Lance will be offering free massages, chiropractic adjustments, and sports tape and presenting on enhancing functional movement, reducing pain, and supporting long-term wellness using chiropractics and acupuncture.
Herbal Medicine Therapy From Flow Wellness.Madi Flynn is an expert in eastern herbal remedies and solutions. Tired of unexplained symptoms? Sick of western doctors who never listen and rarely understand? We invited Flow Wellness because we know that working with an herbalist like Madi is exactly what some people in our community desperately need. She will be offering free ear seeds at the event and presenting on herbal and somatic nervous system support.
Massage Therapy From The Body Center. offers advanced therapies that combine Structural Therapy and Integrated Physical Therapy. They use outside-the-box methods that are backed by science and tried-and-true experience. They understand that when you work through the pain that’s living in your body, you can unlock the pain that’s been living in your mind. They will be offering donation-based chair massages at Keeping St. Pete Weird & Well.
Hands For Healing With Needles Of Light.is an acupuncture and holistic health clinic. They offer a variety of massages, including: relaxation, deep tissue, manual lymphatic drainage, Shiatsu and Reiki. They will be offering tip-based chair massages, and Reiki, as well as free smudging and ear seeds to those who are called. They will also be presenting on the energetic levels of the body and how to support the body’s natural ability to heal through intuitive and holistic alignment

Is This Event Covered By My Insurance?
Our favorite part about this event (other than the lovely partners in our community who will be doing it with us) is that it’s absolutely free! It’s a great resource for the whole city to improve their wellness, meet the healers in their community, and even perhaps make a friend or two.
We will, however, have a number of therapists from Integrative Counsel at the event who you might be interested in working with. If financials are an issue, we also have counselors who happily accept the following insurances:
Therapists Who Take Cigna Insurance. There’s no reason that it should be so difficult to find a therapist who accepts your Cigna insurance. Wherever you are on your journey, we have a right-fit counselor who’s got you covered (and is covered by your insurance!)
Therapy For People With United Healthcare Insurance. If you have health insurance from United (or its umbrella company, Optum), you’re in the right place! If you’re covered by Optum, whether it’s Optum Oscar, Optum Oxford, or United Optum, we can match you with a right-fit counselor who’s covered by your plan.
Therapists Who Accept Aetna Insurance. Finding counseling that fits in your lifestyle can be quite the journey, but Integrative Counsel is here to help you at every step of the way. We have many therapists who are covered by your insurance, and here to offer you guidance as you break free of your old patterning.
We’d be honored to have you with us as we celebrate creativity, connection, and community healing. Whether you’re coming to relax, learn, share, or simply be present, your energy is welcome and needed. Let’s gather to embrace the beauty of being human—together, in all our weird and wonderful ways.
